From the organizer:

Quang San Art Museum is thrilled to introduce the solo exhibition “Tranquility” by artist Hong Quan (1957), showcasing 41 selected watercolor works at the Quang San Art Space.

Hong Quan is well-known as a painter who always answers the calling for watercolor material. While specialized in oil painting at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts, watercolor continues to inspire the artist and his profuse sentiments for the landscape and people living in southwest Vietnam, the Mekong Delta.

“The image of a boat sailing up and downstream to trade and the lives of families of several generations on the rivers have always been a creative impulse for me!”

Hong Quan was born and raised in An Giang, in addition to many years of working as a stage designer for the Dong Thap Performing Arts Troupe, the beauty of the Delta has ingrained in his memory, becoming almost second nature. The simple and joyful nostalgia is translated onto the canvas and highlighted through the soft brushwork of an expatriate. Looking at his paintings, viewers will see of a life revolves around water, from the bustling scenes of a floating market or the image of a fishing boat returning to shore at the end of a day. Everything seemed so familiar yet profound in the danger of climate change and human impact, simple but vivid in every detail from the sea to the intricate tributaries network, and above all, attained the unique clarity attribute of watercolor and reflected tranquility of the loving heart.
