From Goethe Institut:
There are countless bodily realities, each accompanied by unique ways of perceiving and interacting with the world. People with disabilities experience and connect with the world differently from those without disabilities.
Moving together and allowing these bodily realities to meet is an opportunity to explore how each person lives, breathes, and interacts with the world. It is also a way for us to share our stories and discover connections with others. A gentle touch or a moment of resonance between seemingly opposing differences can help us reflect on ourselves, deepen our understanding, and appreciate the beauty of diversity amidst the constant rush of life.
From December 16th to December 19th, Kinergie Studio, Goethe-Institut Hanoi, and the Embassy of the Netherlands warmly invite you to meet and interact with diverse bodily realities and life experiences through the “Body to Heart: Encounters of different body realities” series of workshops and performances.
This program will feature:
16 Dec 2024, 06:30 PM – 09 PM | Experience movement through contemporary dance, exploring and connecting through creative exercises.
17 Dec 2024, 06:30 PM – 09 PM | Experience movement through contemporary dance, exploring and connecting through creative exercises.
19 Dec 2024, 06:30 PM – 07:15 PM | Work-in-progress movement performance: A culminating event where movements narrate heartfelt stories of harmony and love.
The workshop series best suits for:
For people with disabilities: The workshops are designed with facilities and support optimized for individuals with physical disabilities. We kindly ask for your understanding regarding the program’s limitations.
For people without disabilities: The workshops are ideal for individuals with prior movement experience and/or those practicing an art form related to movement.
About the instructor
Eva Eikhout is a program producer and presenter from the Netherlands, working for the media organization BNNVARA. She is also an event coordinator and an inspiring speaker. She gave TEDxTalks in 2016 and 2023 and has extensive experience coordinating events organized by companies, ministries, cities, RadboudUMC Medical Center, and Rabobank Rijk van Nijmegen. In the spring of 2024, her debut work, This Is Not a Book by a Girl Without Arms & Legs, will be published. Eva writes weekly columns for several magazines/apps/social media in the Netherlands and has also been a guest editor.
Eva humorously shares her life experiences in a world designed for people with arms and legs. Through everyday situations, she engages her audience with her story of flexibility, adaptability, and daily challenges. Without pointing fingers (because she doesn’t have any) or comparing herself to others (which is pointless), she holds up a mirror for her audience. Everyone struggles with internal or external limitations at times. It’s about fighting against your environment and becoming friends with yourself: Eva Eikhout.

Since its inception in 2014, the Kinergie Studio has created unique contemporary dance productions that not only reach lovers of contemporary dance and ballet but also contribute to the development of contemporary art in Vietnam.
