You are warmly welcomed to join Tram for a lovely weekend activity, dressed in your finest attire, and spend a peaceful morning embroidering at the Tú Thị Communal House! In the vibrant, fragrant setting of the “Shimmering Silk, Natural Hues – Threads and Dyes of the Past and Present” exhibition, embroidery artist Pham Ngoc Tram will share her insights into the art and heritage of Vietnamese embroidery through the hands-on experience of stitching one of the most popular traditional embroidery designs: ancient cloud motifs.
These delicate cloud motifs are rich in cultural meaning and highly versatile in their application. You will be guided through every detailed step of this process, from drawing the traditional design, choosing the color combination, to stitching and finishing techniques.
You’ll get to embroider these motifs on your own clothes, bags, pillowcases, ao dai, or any of your favorite items
All tools and materials will be provided. Tram will offer specially curated cotton embroidery threads, carefully color-matched to resemble those used in traditional embroidery. However, you are also free to create
Note:
– You don’t need to bring anything unless you want to use your own familiar embroidery tools or frame.
– Feel free to bring your own favorite clothing, such as dresses, sweaters, scarves, or fabric pieces to embroider on.
– Tram will also have a selection of naturally dyed fabrics from Meo Meo Atelier available for purchase, in case you want to take some home for future projects.
