From Artist-in-Residence Vietnam Network (AirVine):
The Artist-in-Residence Vietnam Network (AiRViNe) would like to introduce Open Reading Day: AiR Programs in Aomori, Japan, with the collaboration of Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (ACAC) and the support of materials from Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam.
Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (ACAC) was established in 2001 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Aomori City, Japan. This is one of a few institutes with the most regular annual Artists in Residence (AiR) program in Japan, and at the same time opens up many international collaboration opportunities for artists through this program. The program covers accommodation, travel expenses for artists, with research/materials expenses for nearly 2 months of residency of 300,000JPY.
With the theme “CAMP” in 2025, the open call AIR is intended to provide people involved in a wide range of cultural and artistic pursuits – including artists, curators, and researchers – with an opportunity to engage in creative activities while residing at ACAC. Residents will conduct research, create artwork, hold various events, and eventually present their results, all while receiving continuous support from ACAC’s curators, technicians, and staff. The activities of the residents will also be made available to the public through our website and program catalogs. The results – which may consist of artwork exhibitions, performances, workshops, presentations of research or production processes, or other formats – will be presented at this year’s presentation venue.
The open reading organized by AiRViNe, will help participants learn more about the program, as well as directly discuss with the curators any questions they may have during the application process.
