Nguyen Linh Phuong Thao (THAORS) is a visual artist based in Hanoi, Vietnam. THAORS graduated from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts with a major in Painting. Her practice focuses on interrogating personal identity, particularly as a woman navigating blurred boundaries within the patriarchal structures of Vietnam. Drawing significant influence from the women in her extended family THAORS delves into the emotional and cultural inheritance embedded in objects, particular interest in archiving and working with materials imbued with the passage of time (fabric, found objects,personal belongings) using them as tools to explore identity and memory.

In 2024, THAORS participated in the residency programme by Ồ Ạt and Lân Tinh Foundation, concluding with the open studio event “Vật thiêng Thời đại | Modern Totem” and a talk with artist Phạm Huy Thông. THAORS also took part in the group exhibition “Collective Memories” as part of Ồ Ạt Festival 2024; composed and displayed the work “room two plus two” in collaboration with artist THÀNH for the project “Green Red & Yellow: Recontextualized” by APD Center for Art Patronage and Development.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
