Finest Projects 2024-2025: Project Đẩy Sàn
PROJECT ĐẨY SÀN
About project: Project Đẩy Sàn (PĐS) is a collaborative project that fosters learning, collaboration, and experimentation for emerging Vietnamese performance artists. It was founded in 2024 by Cùng Bóc Hành collective, The Run – A Theater Project and Goethe-Institut HCMC. PĐS consists of two distinct but complementary components: Rèn (forge) and Dựng (build). Rèn is a collaborative capacity-building workshop prior to Dựng, an incubation and showcase programme for works-in-progress.
The 2024 programme consisted of two episodes, each with one Rèn and one Dựng. The first episode of the project was themed “Cơ thể trong Không gian, Không gian cho Cơ thể” (lit. The Body in the Space, the Space for the Body), with Rèn – a workshop series on Theater & Performance, and Dựng – an incubation programme for in-progress performances. The second episode featured Rèn for directors and Dựng for experiments.
In Rèn, participating artists joined workshops led by artists Lina Oanh Nguyen (Germany) and Sasapin Siriwanij (Thailand), focusing on performance and theatre related skills in preparation for the performance assignments at the end of the workshop. Dựng spanned six weeks, during which artists work individually and with the support of advisors and curators to exchange ideas and test new ideas in front of an audience during the open studio night.
Through these two components, Vietnamese artists are given greater access to creative tools for performance-making, along with tailored support in developing and presenting their works to the public.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.
Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.
This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
