From the organizer:

In this workshop, Cecile Pin will share her journey to becoming a novelist – from finding inspiration for her debut novel to the publication process. Through writing exercises and lively discussions, she will introduce participants to key elements of fiction writing, including plot structure, character development, and voice.

Who should apply:
– This workshop is suitable for beginner writers who want to explore the fundamentals of novel writing, as well as emerging authors currently developing their own novel projects.
– Participants are expected to engage in writing exercises during the session, be ready to present their work, and participate in peer discussions. The workshop is open to young Vietnamese writers who wish to write in either Vietnamese or English.

The workshop is free, coordinated by literary critic Quyên Nguyễn, and refreshments will be provided.

Submission Guidelines:
Please submit a sample of your writing (approx. 1000 words, in a WORD file) along with a short bio (max 100 words).
Submissions are open from April 17–26, 2025, via email to [email protected], with the subject line: Application for Workshop with Cecile Pin.

Workshop Instructor:

Cecile Pin grew up in Paris and New York City. She moved to London at eighteen to study Philosophy at University College London, followed by an MA at King’s College London. She previously worked in publishing. Her debut novel Wandering Souls was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for fiction, the Prix Femina Etranger, and shortlisted for the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize.
