Active Curators & Producers 2024-2025: Nguyễn Minh Ngọc

NGUYỄN MINH NGỌC

Year of birth: 1993

Nguyễn Minh Ngọc is an independent art researcher, educator, organiser and curator. From 2008 to 2018, Ngọc worked with non-profit educational organisations to promote critical dialogue and creative expression for people of all ages. Since 2013, Ngọc has been a core member of the New Space Arts Foundation (NSAF), an interdisciplinary space for visual and performing arts.

Ngọc currently collaborates with AirHue to support resident artists and guests in their creative and artistic development. In 2024, Ngọc curated the open studio exhibition of resident artists Phạm Nguyễn Anh Tú and Trần Quỳnh Nhi, as well as the exhibition “where do I end and you begin?” which presented the works of artist Nina Paszkowski at Le Ba Dang Art Foundation in Hue City. She also served as advisor for a guest artist programme featuring Anh Dao Ha.

Ngọc participated in the art project “Close at Hand: Developing Trust, Intimacies, and Vulnerabilities through Touch and Sound” which studied ethnic dance practices in Vietnam with the art collective Nguyễn + Transitory. As part of the project, she created a dance performance in which the artists interacted to build trust, form deep connections and share vulnerabilities, while paying close attention to and acknowledging differences, power imbalances and conflicts.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
