My Divination, Myself is a concert created and performed by percussionist Long Đinh, inspired by the Vietnamese spiritual ritual of casting divinations at the beginning of the lunar year. At the same time, it reflects the artist’s personal journey.

The performance unfolds snapshots of Long’s youth, a time marked by hazy crossroads and emotional fragments about the future. Instead of seeking answers from the outside, the artist chooses to cast a divination for himself, as a way to engage in inner dialogue with the joys and sorrows, fortunes and misfortunes, gains and losses that come with being both a person and an artist.

Using the language of percussion and the sounds of traditional Vietnamese string instruments, đàn tranh and đàn bầu, blended with a compositional approach that bridges folk and contemporary sensibilities, the concert is structured into four segments: Ominous – Moderate Blessing – Lesser Blessing – Greatest Blessing.

This performance especially opens Ồ Ạt Festival 2025, promising a poetic and contemplative experience of contemporary music.

About the Artist

Long Đinh is a percussionist raised in a family with a deep-rooted tradition in Vietnamese music. From an early age, he was exposed to a wide range of traditional and modern instruments and has consistently explored how to blend different musical textures. His musical journey has been shaped by diverse experiences: from youth music stages and large-scale collaborative projects to artistic encounters with contemporary performers, movement artists, and visual artists.

These intersections have led Long to recognize the expressive power of traditional music when reimagined within a contemporary context—a space where artistic individuality can fully unfold. My Divination, Myself marks a pivotal moment in his creative journey, as he collaborates with the Ồ Ạt Festival’s creative team to transform cultural, personal, and musical elements into an experimental, introspective performance.
