“Cumulonimbus” are images of accumulation and transformation. They carry moisture, humidity, and pressure, silently drifting through space, colliding, then suddenly releasing into rain. The exhibition Outside-In: Cumulonimbus brings together nine artists whose individual practices explore the borderlands of material and peripheral thought, of erased histories and shifting societies – absorbing, compressing, breaking apart old structures, and forming new shapes.
Phan Hải Bằng’s Trúc chỉ paper art, Nguyễn Việt Cường’s coal flowing, Yumie Saito’s dissolving ceramics, material dialogues in Mzung Nguyễn’s sculpture, Phạm Thanh Toàn’s visual oppositions, Hoàng Anh’s indigo blocks, Trần Trung Lĩnh’s pop pigments, Minoru Suwa’s quietly surreal photographs, and Trần Thế Vĩnh’s oil strokes – each work is a phenomenon with its own atmospheric pressure, evoking an ever-shifting horizon.
This exhibition is an official program of Ồ Ạt Festival 2025, taking place from July 25 to 31, 2025, across multiple venues in Ho Chi Minh City.
