During my first year of film school, a professor once said, “Stop trying to force a storyline, follow the emotions.” At the time, I didn’t fully understand what she meant. But I do now, thanks to fellow Southeast Asian filmmakers who’ve shown me that narrative, politics, and visual poetry can all coexist in a single frame.
In this program, I present a mix of recent and earlier works by both emerging voices and established filmmakers from Vietnam and the region. Some films may feel more accessible than others, but I hope each one stirs something in you, emotion, reflection, or inspiration.
