Fri 24 Feb 2017, 6 – 8.30 pm
Flickr Coffee
43 Lo Duc, Hanoi
From the organizer:
The first presentation of the collection of over 300 old photos (after being forgotten for over a century) tells the story of the maritime routes of international trade in 1880-1897 from the port of Haiphong (Vietnam) to the Japanese harbors, as well as of the Japanese people and ancient scenes in excellent photos of French artist-photographer Louis-Jules Dumoulin (1860-1924).
Architect-collector Bắc Đoàn has discovered, restored and recompiled all these precious photos. Bắc Đoàn has held several exhibitions and presentation on Vietnam’s ancient photo since 2010 till date. But this is the first event about the Japanese old photos that were captured by the French during the 19th century.
On the evening of February 24, audience and reporters will have the chance to contemplate more than 300 shots (on the big screen) about the destination of the maritime routes from Vietnam to Japan and listen to the conversation about Bắc’s old photo collection.
