Gate Gate Gallery is pleased to announce “The Speaking Place” — our new. group showcase featuring. Danh Võ, Ưu Đàm Trần Nguyễn, Trương Tân, Phạm Ngọc Dương, Hương Ngô, and Jacqueline Hoàng Nguyễn, led by curator Sofia Thiệu D’Amico.
The showcase includes works across various mediums and themes, focusing on exploring the insurgent becomings of language in general and Vietnamese in particular, especially when situated within the complex contexts of cultural and historical currents.
Through these works, the showcase proposes the unknowability and untranslatability of Vietnamese cultural and linguistic histories—written, oral, and poetic.
