Video Art Video: Music films

This week VIDEO ART VIDEO would like to present our fifth series of screenings: ‘Music films’. In this series we will show documentaries on music and musicians. The first film of the series is Heima, a film directed by Dean Deblois.

‘Heima’ is Sigur Rós’s first ever film, made over two weeks in the summer of 2006 when the band undertook a series of free, unannounced concerts in their homeland Iceland. Combining both the biggest and smallest shows of their career, and together with a crew of 40-plus people going to around 15 locations, the entire tour was filmed, and now provides a unique insight into one of the world’s shyest and least understood bands captured live in their natural habitat. Playing in deserted fish factories, ghost towns, national parks, far-flung community halls, sylvan fields and darkened caves, the band reached an entirely new spectrum of the Icelandic population; young and old, ardent and merely quizzical, entirely by word-of-mouth.

The screening is non-profit and aims for studies and research only.

Following the screening is Q&A session.

• August 12th: Women’s Cinema Series: Chantal Akerman, Agnès Varda

• August 19th: Women’s Cinema Series: ‘Daisies’ by Věra Chytilová

• August 26th: Music films series: ‘Heima’ by Dean Deblois

• September 9th: Music film series:  Music videos by Chris Cunningham

• September 16th: Music film series: ‘Step across the border’ by Nicolas Humbert and Werner Penzel
