Update: Long Bien Festival 2010

Long Bien Festival of Arts 2010: “Peace – Integration – Development”

From the organisers:
To commemorate the 1000 years Celebration of Thang Long-Hanoi, the Festival of international scale will be held with the title “Dragon Bridge tells the tale of Thang Long-Hanoi – Bridge of Peace, Integration and Development”.

There are 3 main concepts of the Festival:

1. “Memory of the Bridge” – Symbol of courageous people, from Hanoi to Gia Lam, the bridge is divided into ten centuries (1010-2010), each period is marked out and brought to life by divers art forms, from photographic archives to paintings, antiquities, clothes.
2. “Dream of the Bridge” – Symbol of peace and friendship: From Gia Lam to Hanoi, the Bridge is transformed into a gallery of contemporary art decorated with the flags of the nations represented in Vietnam and animated by street performances. Urban projects for the Long Bien Bridge are also represented during this occasion.
Along 1682 meters on the Bridge: An open-air gallery presenting the artworks of hundreds of national and international artists representing their love for Hanoi and the Long Bien Bridge. A long walking boulevard with a railroad in the middle and trees along the bridge, represent the lifestyle of the people through time. A vast workshop of culture, arts, painting, photography for everyone who wants to express themselves artistically.
3. Worldwide friends with the Millennium Celebration: the accent of Long Bien Festival 2010: Peace – Integration – Development.
