HANOI FUTURE ART – double program
Opening: Fri 13 Feb, 7pm
Exhibition: 13-28 Feb 2009
1. Danish performance artist Erik Pold gives an introduction to his work with contemporary and postmodern performance work. 7pm
2. Flowers of spring – Vu Thi Trang & Jes Brinch 9pm
1. Erik Pold originally studied choreography and post- modern dance in Amsterdam in the mid-nineties, but already his early work was a mixture of a wide range of performative medias: theatre, dance, text, video, music. Terms such as a “hybrid of form” or maybe the more contemporary “Live Art” has been used to describe his work, but what is most striking is that it constantly tends to fall outside of categories, looking to question and redefine traditional notions of theatre, dance, performance and art in general. Moving comfortably in and out of different medias, the work also constantly moves in and out of “creating illusion”, narrative, story and being more abstract. And it questions when something is “real” and when it is an “illusion”.
2. Hanoi Future Art invites you to a private view of an exhibition of paintings by Vietnamese artist Vu Thi Trang and Danish artist Jes Brinch. Each artist shows a series of new paintings all made in February 2009. Some works are done in collaboration, and all the works shown reflects on life and values today. The exhibition offers a pleasing experience as well as food for thought.
