Cinematheque – Documentary Films

Organised crime continues as the theme for Monday and Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we will screen three unusual award-winning documentary shorts.  The first, PLEASE VOTE FOR ME, is a ‘make-up’ for the screening which we had to cancel at the last minute on March 9.

From pre-teens in China experimenting in democracy, we cross over to teenagers in California who are too busy spending money to care about democracy.  KIDS+MONEY is a documentary that is both amusing and troubling – a film that also foreshadows the disastrous credit-crunch that the United States is currently suffering.  An unusual short by Annie Leonard, THE STORY OF STUFF, completes our program.

For those members who attended our Documentary Night on March 9, no donation will be requested, since you already made a donation on March 9 to see PLEASE VOTE FOR ME. Please identify yourselves to our box-office girl who will check against our March 9 list.

During the week will also have additional screenings of THE REAL SHAOLIN – an entertaining look at modern day Kung Fu training in China.
