Gender Equity in Vietnam: A Child’s Point of View
How do Vietnamese children see concepts such as gender equity? A small exhibition of colourful artworks by 8 to 10 year olds provides some insights into children’s perceptions of male and female roles in society.
The Vietnamese Women’s Museum (VWM) is exhibiting 20 of the best art works submitted by Vietnamese youngsters in the European Commission’s 2008 international drawing competition.
This year the European Commission (EC) launched its third international drawing competition on gender equality on International Women’s Day. The competition calls on children all over the world to express their vision of gender equality. The best 10 drawings from each region will be sent to Brussels for the final judging. 2 winning drawings for each region will be selected by a jury composed of children from all over Europe.
A prize equivalent to €1.000 for each region will be awarded to the winners. The winning drawings will be included in a booklet which will be distributed in the schools of the participating countries.
The works are on display on the third floor of the Museum at 36 Ly Thuong Kiet every day from 8am to 4.30pm during the month of April.
