ASEM Film Festival – Spanish contribution

The Embassy of Spain in Hanoi has the pleasure of inviting you to the ASEM Film Festival that will take place in Hanoi from May 15th to May 22nd.

Spain presents the movie FAMILY, by Fernando León.

Note: There are 2 film festivals on in Hanoi at roughly the same time: the European Film Festival and the ASEM Film Festival.

Synopsis: Someone once said that God’s only mistake was not granting man two lives: one to rehearse and one to act. Well, Santiago is ready to remedy this. In this story there are parts that fit and parts that don’t fit. The part that fits is Santiago getting out of bed like any other morning to find his whole family waiting for him in the kitchen, they all sing happy birthday when he comes through the door, they kiss him, give him presents, joke around. What doesn’t fit is that Santiago doesn’t like his youngest son’s present, he doesn’t believe his son when he says he loves him, and for that he yells at him puts him out on the street, ges angry at everyone and demands a better son. Who hasn’t dreamed some time of having a custom-made family?
