The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi is sponsoring a series of classic and recent Czech films at Hanoi Cinematheque.  These films were carefully chosen to represent the best in Czech filmmaking, old and new.

You are invited by the embassy to attend these screening without ticket or donation.  Reservations are not necessary, but please arrive early to claim a good seat.

Another masterpiece of Czech satire from the 60s, and the last movie that Milos Forman directed before emigrating to the United States.

SEKAL HAS TO DIE   (Je Treba Zabit Sekala)

The Czech Republic’s official 1998 Oscar submission — from one of the country’s most accomplished contemporary filmmakers.

MEN ABOUT TOWN  (Svetaci)

1969   Directed by Zdenek Podskalsky   95 minutes

Czech with English subtitles and Vietnamese audio option

A top example of Czech comedy/satire on the 60s, and one of the all time best in the history of Czech cinema.
