After months of work in the Varan workshops young filmmakers from all over Vietnam have finished their documentary films. Two of them will be presented Wednesday night, 7pm at the Goethe-Institut Hanoi.

I stay with you forever, my child

Director and director of photography: Nguyen Kim Hai, 75 minutes
A film about the life of families with children suffering from cancer. The film describes their constant worries and fight for a normal life.

Director and director of photography: Nguyen Quang Tuan, 35 minutes
Retired workers live together with their children and grandchildren in run-down apartments. The film shows their fight for better living conditions.

The Varan workshop is a co-production between Atelier Varan, the Studio for Documentary and Scientific Film, the Ford Foundation and the Goethe-Institut Vietnam. Since 2004 young filmmakers are trained and supported in making their first steps into documentary filmmaking.
