Painter Trinh Long and “Life” exhibition
Opening: Wed 5 Aug, 5pm
Exhibition: 5 Aug – 12 Aug
Viet Art Centre
Trinh Long opens an exhibition of paintings he created during a decade spent struggling with his disability.
Ten years ago, an accident left painter Trinh Long in paralysis. After this tragedy, he began his quiet life and creation. And 10 years of endless attempt finally turn into achievement – his own exhibition with a meaningful name “Life”!
” Life is like climbing a steep mountain. One wrong move and you can slip and fall. To reach the peak, one must strive hard not to slip. I’m an unlucky climber who has slipped, but I have tried not to fall down to the bottom of the fatal abyss”, he said, ” With the support of my family, my friends and acquaintances, I have tried to climb back, little by little. Maybe I will never reach the peak, but I still have to climb, to try day by day. For me, even a little progress is a great success…”

I have walked with Long’s family through the last ten years as he learned to again express himself through painting, even though he cannot grip a brush in his fingers. The courage his family and he have shown and continue to show is beyond verbal description. There have been many times we did not know if he would rebound from new physical challenges but he always has. Long is never far from my mind and I hope that through this exhibit he will on the minds of others now, as one of the truly brave people in this world. The family and friends who have helped him paint again through tireless efforts also deserve recognition. Each painting was a team effort and all are proud of the results. Please celebrate with us on Wednesday at 5, or later in the week.
I totally agree with you, Nina. They all deserve world recognition. Anh Long is a very nice person with sense of humor ^^. I pray God to give him a miracle gift as everyone around him knows what it is!
