Hanoi New Music Meeting

The Hanoi New Music Meeting 2009 is a pioneering event that brings together the best experimental contemporary composers in Vietnam and renowned international artists. This is the very first time that a professional, new music event will be held in Vietnam. The aim of the first meeting is to establish a suitable model and to develop an infrastructure so that an annual contemporary music festival can be established in Vietnam.

• I Am Me Concert
A concert of four new compositions by Vietnamese composers and the Vietnam premieres of four compositions by the invited international composers.

• Improvisation Concert
A concert of improvised works performed by all participants in different sized ensembles. The concert is the culmination of 10 days of workshops involving the Vietnamese and international artists.

• Seminar
A seminar involving all participants and invited guests from prestigious music institutions in Hanoi. The seminar will assess and evaluate the first Hanoi New Music Meeting and will discuss strategies for organising and funding an annual festival in future years.
