KVT back to Emergency Room, and more

Snippets on a worthwhile Friday afternoon in Yet Kieu.
At the Viet Art Centre there’s a series that a lot of you will enjoy. Finishes Sunday…
Vu Dinh Tuan has an exhibition of his wood block prints called ‘Beautiful Life’. It’s a fairly strong show and with a bit of discretion a bit of it could have been left out but once you see his ‘Lady Series’ of 20 large, colored prints you’ll probably be as impressed as I was. They range along a long wall starting with four traditional Dong Ho types and morph into intriguingly designed figures that Aubrey Beardsley would have been proud to call his own work.
They are really worth visiting and the whole lot would look superb along the foyer of a modern office block or fabulous on a hotel feature wall. I also liked his somnambulist pieces, and those with a romantic streak will love the fragile feathers.
Emergency Room continues… in the gallery behind the sculpture garden.
The museum section is now exciting and the mini-installations by Tran Hoang Son are worthwhile investigating and and so are the bits by Viet Hung….in fact Friday’s small picture essay by Hung was a gem.
The project finishes on the 19th and is worth a couple of visits. I’m becoming an addict.
