A Sketch of Life

11 – 16 Dec 2009
Hanoi & HCMC
The British Council is pleased to present the UK Film Week.
The films, shot on location in London, tell the stories of ordinary people travelling on the roller coaster of life. The films explore different stages of life from teenage years to mid-life crisis and see chance encounters between strangers developing in to something much more.
Simon Beardow
Deputy Director of the British Council
The film week – organised by the British Council Vietnam – will feature Happy Go Lucky, Looking for Eric, Scoop and Somers Town, showcasing different aspects of contemporary UK life and culture to Vietnamese audiences. All the films have either been nominated for prizes at the BAFTA Film Awards, the Oscars, the Berlin Film Festival, or the Venice Film Festival.
Chơi Vơi (Adrift) – a film by Vietnamese film director Bui Thac Chuyen, a recent award winner at the Venice Film Festival – which tells the story of family values, love and contemporary life in Hanoi, will also be screened as part of the film week.
