Announcement from DOCLAB
DOCLAB Workshop – “How to Turn an Idea into a Project?”: Call for Applications
Submission deadline: 31 Mar
DOCLAB would like to introduce a short workshop (2 Saturdays in mid April) on how to write a proposal for a documentary film project, and what to prepare when applying for a film grant. After the workshop, the best proposals will be selected for a number of research grants from DOCLAB.
Writing a proposal is singlehandedly the most crucial and useful step before starting off any kind of project. A proposal describes and defines your area(s) of research interests. It also functions as a guide which helps to map out your questions, explaining why the questions are important to you, and the steps you will take to try to answer the questions. In short, a proposal helps you to communicate your ideas to others, while reminding yourself what you are doing, why and how.
With this workshop, we will help you:
– Identify your ideas and interests
– How to do initial research
– How to write a proposal
– Apply for a film grant
To participate, please send:
– A brief proposal for a documentary film (around 500 words and with minimum font size of 11). Your brief proposal should address the following questions: What topic/theme are you interested in? Why are you interested in this topic? How will you approach this topic? What aspect(s) of the topic are you most attracted by? How will you tell the story? Style? Format? Estimated time-frame.
– Your CV
– Your previous work samples (if you have any)
