Cracking Bamboo is a music festival which sets itself the task of musically unifying East and West, and creating a platform for encounters between percussionists with modern European instruments and the traditional instruments of Asia. Cracking Bamboo is a series of workshops, master classes and concerts which will begin in Hanoi and will travel to Bandung, Indonesia and HCMC.

Meeting in Hanoi will be nearly 60 musicians from around the world, including China, Norway, Turkey, Korea, Cambodia, Malaysia, Denmark, Switzerland, India, Canada, Spain, Indonesia, France, Holland, Italy, Germany and of course Vietnam. On March 22 and 23 the courtyard of the Goethe Institute Hanoi will host the opening concerts during which the various artists will introduce themselves musically. The results of the workshops will be presented on March 27 and 28 in the Hanoi Opera House.
