From Book to Movie: Atonement

In the first meeting of “From Book to Movie” in 2010, we will screen Atonement (by Joe Wright) – a film adaption of Ian McEwan’s novel of the same name, followed by discussion with our special guests about the adaption.

– Translator Nguyen Hanh Quyen (Translator of Atonement into Vietnamese)
Adapted from Ian McEwan’s Booker Prize winning novel, Atonement tells a story of a 13 year old girl living in the 30s of the last century, whose jealousy and misunderstanding ruined the love of her sister and the housekeeper’s son and broke them apart. World War broke out and brought about dramatic changes, the young girl, now was a military nurse, still felt guilty for what she had done… Atonement won Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama, and got 7 nominations in Oscar 2008.
The novel Atonement with Vietnamese translation was published in Vietnam by Vanhoc (Literature) Publishing House and Nha Nam Book Company.
The film screening is free of charge and non-profit.
