Globalization is not limited to economic and financial globalization, which captures the most attention. It also has a cultural dimension that is often hidden. Carried by the media and accelerated by the digital revolution, cultural globalization combines intensively and in competition with one another world views, values, collective choices whose differences are immediately and widely perceived and thereby accquire a unique importance. Cultural factors become elements of realpolitik and divisions that drive the global dynamic. Nevertheless, power lies largely in the ability to manipulate symbols in the global media, which constitutes a new strategic field.
