Yên Tử Pagoda
Mount Yên Tử, 15km northwest of Uông Bí, Quảng Ninh province.
Climb the mountain into the clouds past the pools and pagodas where King Tran Nhan Tong bathed, ate, and is buried.
Yen Tu is the name of a 1068-meter high mountain, 15km northwest of Uong Bó, the capital of Quang Ninh province. It was the birthplace of Truc Lam, a Buddhist sect founded by Vietnam’s King Tran Nhan Tong (1258-1308).
There are many stops along the way to the top, including the pools and pagodas where King Tran Nhan Tong bathed, ate, etc.
A lane leads visitors to the Hon Ngoc garden with the main stupa. It reportedly contains the ashes of King Tran Nhan Tong.
Other gardens, pagodas, stupas, with various legends abound on your path in the mountain.
