On the occasion of the European Film Festival 2010, the Italian movie “A Hundred Years ago” will be shown in Hanoi & HCMC. Come watch this collection of surprising, beautiful and touching films from European film archives to rediscover what cinema was in 1909, a crucial epoch in cinema history.
The film A Hundred Years ago includes the following short movies:
– “The First Giro d’Italia”: the first cycle race was organized in Italy 1909 and was composed of eight stages with a total distance of 2448 kilometres. One of the first greatest sport events that still nowadays attract millions of fans.
– “How Foolshead pays his Debts”: the first movie star too was born in 1909, he belongs to the comedy genre: that’s Foolshead.
– “The Fable of Psyche”: 1909 saw the birth of the “diva”, as Stacia Napierkowska who played a lot of roles from Cleopatra to Antinea.
– “Romance of a Boot and of a Dancing Slipper”: a brilliant example of narrative efficiency and sophistication combined with comic and tragic plots.
– “Iulius Cæsar”: after the prestigious French film d’art reached Italy, a kind of art fever hit the entire Italian filmmaking world, resulting in impressive film adaptation of literature masterpieces. Shakespeare’s tragedies quickly became a favorite.
