Sharing experiences on sustainable restoration of old cities: Genova and Hanoi

In the framework of the celebrations of Thang Long-Hanoi 1000 years, the Embassy of Italy is organizing a series of workshops on sustainable development of cities in order to share experiences between Italy and Vietnam . The first workshop will be on sustainable restoration of old cities and studies the case of the Italian historical city of Genova which has witnessed in the last decades unprecedented transformation preserving a unique cultural heritage, named as a UNESCO’s World Heritage site, while adapting to modern times.

Arch. Giorgio Parodi, President of the City of Genova Architects Association , will illustrate some of main characterists of restoration of Genova historical center and Dr. Arch. Dao Ngoc Nghiem, former Director of Hanoi Autohority for Urban Planning&Architecture, will present some projects regarding the restoration of Hanoi ’s old quarters.

The workshp will be in Italian, English and Vietnamese languages with simultaneous translation.

The next subsequent workshop will take place on 26 May at 9 a.m. on the topic of “Cities and energetic development” with the participation of Italian company ANSALDO SISTEMI INDUSTRIALI, one of the world’s leading providers of electric motors, generators, power electronics and industrial automation system and very active in the field of energy efficiency and power quality, to present its concept project “ZEUS=Zero emissions urban solutions”.
