Talent Prize 2010 – Paintings by CDEF: Calls for Submissions

The Vietnamese Danish Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF) would like to invite Vietnamese artists under 35 years old to participate in the competition Talent Prize 2010 – Paintings. The competition seeks to find original, unique and creative artists and to promote innovativeness.
Rules
Painting here means 2 dimensional works of any medium (on canvas, lacquer, silk or paper).
Applicants should be artists under the age of 35, have Vietnamese nationality and the artwork must be the applicant’s own, original works and be done during the last 2 years. They should not have been awarded any prizes in any other competition.
Application
Applicant should send:
(1) CV including copy of ID
(2) Application form (available to download here)
(3) photos of artworks (5 artworks maximum) (size 20*30cm) to CDEF, both in hard copies and soft copies in CD (each photo should be at least 3072*2304 pixels). After each photo, pls. write name of the author, name of the artwork, material, size, year of creation.

Jury
Jury includes: Ms. Natalia Kraevskaia an expert on Vietnamese art and owner of salon Natasha, artist Lê Quang Đỉnh, a well known Vietnamese-American artist based in Ho Chi Minh City and the establisher of San Art independent artist space, and Ms. Malene Natascha Ratcliffe, a Danish curator and director of development at Den Frie, Centre of Contemporary art.
The Judging process
A maximum of 08 individual artists will be chosen by a jury board appointed by the CDEF. Shortlisted candidates will be announced on the 10 of September and there will a small support from the Fund for artists to send artworks to the Fund.
The voting process
Artworks from shortlisted candidates will be exhibited in Hanoi during 2 weeks in October, 2010. During those 2 weeks, voting for the best artist will be conducted from the competition’s website. The winner will be announced on the last day of October.
The Prize
The prize for the winner will be 3700 USD, of which 1000 USD will be handed in cash to the winner; the remaining 2700 USD will be used to organize a solo exhibition for the artist after the competition.
