Vietnam’s leading contemporary painters are exhibiting at England’s only Vietnamese art gallery.

The one-month exhibition titled “Poetry of the Motherland” will last until July 17, displaying 30 works by Tran Luu Hau, 82, and Hoang Duc Dung, 39.

Hau is senior member of Vietnam Association of Fine Arts and a former teacher at the Hanoi University of Fine Arts.

The expressionist painter is known for his bright and colorful works while Dung, now teaching at the National University of Art Education, depicts peaceful rural areas and shy girls.

Vietnamese painters opened Apricot Gallery in April 27 at 27 Albemarle Street, Mayfair, London with their own money, which according to insiders was a bold initiative to introduce Vietnamese paintings to the world.

London’s leading gallery devoted to contemporary Vietnamese art was launched with “Genesis,” an exhibition of five contemporary artists.

Vietnam also has two versions of Apricot Gallery in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
