L’Espace is proud to present Blues concert by Tchakounté.
Tchakounte Roland, born in Cameroon, is living proof that the Blues has no border. He learnt to play drums and then the guitar. He also tried the piano and the harmonica. He played drums and sang African American songs (James Brown, Wilson Picket , Jimi Hendricks) at many venues in Cameroon. He had the passion for Blues after listening to John Lee Hooker. His only dream at that time was to become a Blues player. Successfully blending American blues with African traditions, he sang beautifully in the Bamileke dialect.
Translated by Hanoi Grapevine.
