Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

This event, which is organized by the cooperation of Museum of Yunnan ethics, Yunnan Opera Institute (China) and Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, will take place in Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
This is a great opportunity to have fun with many games and folk toys which contain cultural elements, as well as for educational, training and entertaining purposes; at the same time exploring the similarities and differences in Vietnamese and Chinese culture through many performances and activities for children.

Besides the lion dance performance, Vietnamese water puppetry and folk singing, the characteristics of Chinese culture are also shown in opera performances, opera mask painting, paper cutting art, lantern making, and making craft from cloth.

Along with traditional games of both countries, visitors have the opportunity to play and compete (with prizes) in Chinese games.

Visitors can experience the difference in tea brewing and drinking (Pu’er tea) of the Chinese in Yunnan. It is also a rare opportunity for visitors to learn, talk directly with the Naxi about the hieroglyphs dated from a long time ago along with the famous Dong Ba culture, and the autumn festival of their homelands.

To implement the program Autumn 2010: Colors of Vietnam – China, the Museum of Ethnology needs 200 volunteers. Volunteers were trained on Saturday and Sunday from 22/08 to 12/09. On 16/09, the group volunteering for making lanterns, paper cutting art, tea and cuisine of the Naxi hieroglyphs will work with performers from Yunnan, China.

In this year’s program, on 17/9, the priority is to serve disadvantaged children, including offering 100 gifts for children from some villages and vocational training center. On 20th Sep, guests who purchase tickets in advance will enjoy a compelling program including: lion dance performance, animal circus, Chinese opera, lantern parade, and trying Vietnamese and Chinese moon cakes.
