From the artist Nguyen The Hung:
Others in urban Vietnamese society blissfully enjoy the products of such a process, including brand new automobiles and electronic gadgets, or international schools and universities, the common use of countless English idioms, and popular music and movies. My paintings and other works on the other hand raise pertinent questions regarding a person’s position between the traditional and the modern, between what remains Vietnamese and what will become the new Vietnamese society.
