VietDocs Climate Change – Changing my Life: calling for submission

The competition Vietdocs, a project of the Goethe-Institut Vietnam, offers a platform for short films on ecological themes to young people aged 18 – 30 who are, or hope to become, documentary filmmakers. In 2011 the focus is on climate change and its effects on personal, everyday lives. Interesting project proposals will be selected and their realization as short films will be supported, in part by several workshops at DocLab at Goethe-Institut Hanoi.
Prizes:
The third place receives 500 USD, the second place 700 USD and the first place receives 1.000 USD. The first prize winner also receives a budget of maximum 3.500 USD to produce a feature length documentary (25 min. – 30 min.) on the subject covered to be included in the South East Asia Science Film Festival SeaDocs 2012.
How to apply:
– For round one: Submit a one A4 page proposal of a short film on the subject of climate change and its consequences and local effects on this website. The jury will select max. 20 proposals for the second round.
– For round two: applicants then develop their proposal texts into a script. The films are subsequently shot, cut and finished between February and April 2011. The films must not be longer than 15 minutes. After the delivery of the finished piece, each short film will be compensated with 250 USD towards the accrued production expenditure.
