As part of the “EU Music Festival“, the Yuri Honing Trio, featuring a special local guest – Quyen Van Minh, will play Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
From the Dutch Embassy:
Yuri Honing is probably Holland’s most important saxophone player (according to the ‘Penguin Guide to Jazz on CD’ and the ‘Oxford Introduction to Jazz’) with touring experience in over 50 countries and a discography of almost 30 titles. Honing has played and recorded with greats as Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden and Paul Bley. In 2001 Honing received the Edison Jazz Award (Dutch Grammy) for his recording Seven.
He will be appearing in Vietnam with his Acoustic Trio. The trio is centred around Yuri Honing, not only a brilliant saxophone player but also composer who has been considered one of the leading Dutch voices in jazz since the nineties.

Special Guest – Quyen Van Minh
Joining Yuri onstage for several numbers in both Hanoi and HCMC will be Vietnamese jazz legend Quyen Van Minh, a familiar name to jazz fans in Vietnam, who also recently performed at the Hanoi Opera House.
