Ancient town of Hoi An

The first Vietnam International Choir Festival & Competition will be held in the ancient town of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam. More than 1,000 national and international singers from over 30 choirs will perform and compete in the festival. Graham Sutcliffe is conducting the opening ceremony performance with the VNOB on a floating stage at the Song Hoai (Hoai River) Square in Hoi An Town.

The festival is being organized jointly by Quang Nam province and the German-based Association InterKultur.

Choirs of all music styles and cultures are welcome. Ensembles from all over the world are invited to be part of the festival concerts and competitions. In a total of six categories choirs will compete to win the award.

Highlights:
+ Colorful choir parade, big open air opening ceremony. Ensembles from all parts of Asia and other regions around the globe will be welcomed on a 300 square meter sea stage. Being on stage actors and visitors will enjoy an unforgettable view of the city which is rich in tradition.
+ Participation in the well-known “Hoi An Full Moon” Night on 18 Mar 2011. All electric light gives way to candlelight. Many traditional lantern shows lend a scenic charm to the night of a full moon.
+ Vietnam International choir Festival & Competition offers advisory circles, rehearsals with choir experts and encounter concerts.

Tickets:
All outdoor activities are free.
The competition will take place in the meeting Hall of Hoi An Beach Resort for the judges and the choirs only since the meeting hall can accommodate only 600 people.
