From Australian Embassy:
“Brothers in Concert” showcases the very best of Australian talents: Leonard Grigoryan and Joseph Tawadros whose names are synonymous with modern Australian classical music. Combining the guitar talents of Leonard Grigoryan with the extraordinary Oud playing of Joseph Tawadros provides for an adventurous musical partnership that crosses musical boundaries. Set beside the beautiful sounds of the guitar, the exotic Oud adds an intriguing dimension to this eclectic program.

Brief introduction about Leonard Grigoryan and Joseph Tawadros:
Leonard Grigoryan was born in 1985 in Australia, and began studying guitar with his father at the age of four. He has performed publicly from the age of eight and achieved success in many competitions and eisteddfods. He has appeared as soloist with the Melbourne and Queensland Symphony Orchestras, the Melbourne Musicians’ Chamber Orchestra, and the Academy of Melbourne. He has undertaken major tours to Europe and the US, tours regularly with Musica Viva, and appears at many music festivals. Leonard enjoys collaborating with other artists, including Jeremy Alsop, Jane Rutter, and Darryn Farrugia. In 2005 he joined Saffire, the Australian Guitar Quartet (the other members are Slava, Karen Schaupp and Gareth Koch). Interested in both classical and jazz genres, Leonard is also an active arranger and composer.

Joseph Tawadros never ceases to amaze and at 26 has established himself as one the world’s leading Oud performers and composers. A virtuoso of amazing diversity and sensitivity, Joseph continues to appear in concert halls worldwide dazzling audiences with his brilliant technique, his passionate musicianship and his joyous style of performance. Always willing to push the boundaries and challenge traditional musical forms and rhythms, his efforts have led him to many unique collaborations, and he has recorded 7 albums to date: Storyteller, Rouhani, Visions, Epiphany, Angel, The Prophet: Music Inspired by the Poetry of Kahlil Gibran and his latest offering, The Hour of Separation. A resident of Australia since 1986, Joseph has been responsible for expanding the Oud’s notoriety in mainstream western culture and has also been recognized in the Arab world; recently being invited to appear on the judging panel of the Damascus International Oud competition in 2009 and took part in Istanbul’s first Oud festival in 2010.
