From L’Espace:
For its first exhibition of the Year of the Cat, L’Espace presents the work of Lionel Descostes, a series of never seen before hand made embroideries, realized on taffeta and using the a single-thread technique, the result of 8 years of dedicated work.
Lionel reveals 40 pieces regrouped around 2 “families” of his body of work on the thematic of anonymity: grids and pictograms.
Far from the clichés attached to embroidery, Lionel as an artist and through his collective work with the deaf mute girls embroiderer, proves that this medium can also find its place within contemporary Art. This exhibition reflects the life-experience of the French artist, which has an important influence in Lionel’s work.
