In March, exhibitions of Dao Chau Hai (Hanoi), Van Ngoc (Vung Tau) and Phan Phuong Dong (HCMC) will be held at the Viet Art Center. These three artists are typical representatives of contemporary Vietnamese sculpture.
Van Ngoc will display wood blocks from his famous house in Vung Tau City. His house itself is an artwork in which the architecture of rooms and sculptures in it are naturally harmonized. This makes people wonder if he takes some blocks to display outside, will they “sculpt” as in his house?

Phan Phuong Dong will bring his work “Shadow”, made by simple materials: black pieces stuck to floor creating a large piece in the form of plane geometry. These are symbols for shadow of this world or objects where spirits reside. He wants to combine the thinking of architecture – painting – sculpture into a notion space in the gallery and make visitors imagine their own artwork.
