A.K.A.T
Vietnam’s psychedelic-stoner rock band of the moment are back! A lot has happened since we last saw them in the capital. A.K.A.T have been in the studio writing and recording for their debut album, teasing us with demo releases, and organising/performing in the monthly Wasted Youth of a Nation events that have taken Ho Chi Minh City by storm in 2011: WASTED YOUTH WILL HIT HANOI FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME ON 30th APRIL! Influenced heavily by bands such as The Velvet Underground, Pixies and Melvins in their early days, the band has steered into a new direction after a change of members, looking now towards artists like Sleep, Acid King and Electronic Wizard.

With an abundance of personality, A.K.A.T have quickly established themselves as one of the most proactive bands in Vietnam; a catalyst and advocate for a more versatile music scene in Vietnam. The trio is made up of long-term best friends Bush and To (Da Lat) and Singaporean drummer, Moe, and were united by a Black Flag tattoo on Moe’s leg.

FREEBIRDS
Freebirds possess the kind of energy and umph that we all love to see in a cover band. 7,000 people in Hai Phong will no doubt tell you the same – the band recently rocked a huge audience out there.

The instrumentalists are all long-term Vietnamese musicians and the band is fronted by charismatic, smiley front woman Tash (Aus) along with other guest vocalists.

Respected for their technical excellence and superb song choices, Freebirds never fail to deliver high-powered, dynamic shows that get the crowd up on their feet and raring for more. Having fully recovered from a few broken wings (the bassist broke his foot, the guitarist his hand!) we are delighted to welcome Freebirds back to stage life with their debut performance at HRC.
