From European Commission to Vietnam:
The Delegation of European Union organises a roundtable discussion entitled “shared values of successful women in Vietnam’s modern society”, interacting Vietnamese and European perspectives.  Participants include professionals in the field of culture and the arts, the media and general public.

Women play an important role in the family life and society. Women’ rights in the modern society are protected by the Law. In Vietnam, differently from the past, nowadays, Vietnamese women get degrees and succeed in a number of fields from business, arts, biology, education, etc. Many of them show their talents and ability and prove that they can do what they were not allowed.

However, the modern society also embraces hard views on the role of women. Single mothers are faced with suspicion, while the support towards them should be even stronger. Can women be free to choose their lifes or choose the way they want to live, with or without a husband, with or without children, with or without bosses at work?
