As part of outside activities of exhibition “Manga Realities: Exploring the Art of Japanese Comics Today”, Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam invites one of the most typical representatives of Japanese comics: artist Nishijima Daisuke (born in 1974) to Hanoi to lead two practical workshops on Manga for 15 young artists of Vietnamese comics.
Artist Nishijima is known for his work “Dien Bien Phu”, a fictional work based on stories about Vietnam war. With its fascinated characters, exciting stories and its arrangement, this work is highly appreciated by critics.
In two days of workshop, artist Nishijima will not guide any techniques to draw a real comics. Instead, he will ask participants to draw comics in their own way and they will together find definition of manga.
