Home Visit project with the main purpose to develop and expand the traditional custom & culture of Hanoi people in terms of culture exchange and conservation.

1. Introduction of project:

Being recognized as the non-profit project, Home Visit project will take foreign tourists to visit the ordinary families and approach their daily life with traditional features and customs. With the main purpose is to develop and expand the traditional custom & culture of Hanoi people in terms of culture exchange and conservation.

This private tour brings benefits to home hosted family economically and socially, and tourism company as well, by providing them a base to develop the Home Visit– a popular kind of tourism in the way but still new in Vietnam.

Sharing the same ultimate goal of helping local community, SIFE HANU has cooperated with Hanoi Kids at the current stage to boost Vietnamese culture to the world.

2. Home Visit Project in details:

2.1. Home Visit Activities

  • Homevisit Project expect to desire to bring new forms of tourism and more popular to foreigners. Besides the sights, historic, scenic, they will have the opportunity to go closer and closer to the lives of people living in Hanoi with a visit to their homes, gather dinner with their families, listen to stories with family and learn about the traditions of worship or the meaning of the traditional dishes. That would be the easiest way to remember the culture and people of Vietnam after the trip.
  • Some specific activities:

– Go around the house, learn about the meaningful arrangement of furniture in the family, the differences between generations
– Learn about the Culture of Worship
– Participate in cooking traditional dishes
– Enjoy dinner with traditional dishes and learn the meaning of this dish
– Talk to family: family history, family relationship, tea culture, changes in habits and ways of living between the past and present.

2.2. Tour time, place and motivation

  • Time: Normally from 6pm till 9pm.
  • The tour is offered DAILY to any Group Size
  • 2 – 8 tourists/tour/host
  • If the number of tourists exceeds 8 people, tourists will be divided into different host in the same local area ( including transportation)
  • The host will directly receive 75 % the price from this tour to cover all the cost of tour preparation and insurance, 25% of the price submitted are given to project members, used for brochure/flyer printing, transportation and the allowance for tour guides as well.
  • We plan to use the profit for micro finance – the next phase of our project, aiming to support the development of society and community projects.

2.3. Request for our tour:

The information should include:

  • Your full names and nationality 
  • Your hotel & address in Hanoi
  • Number of participants
  • Date & time (usually start at 6pm as normal except special request)
  • Means of transportation (usually by taxi, guides can directly ask tourists at their hotel for special transport like bus, motor or cyclo, flexible)
  • Special request (please let us know if you have any special request, for instance: special concern on food, transportation, time arrangement, etc.)

3. Introduction to SIFE and SIFE HANU:

SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) is an international non-profit organization that enables university students to apply business concepts to develop outreach projects improving the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. For more information, click here.

SIFE HANU was established by the Faculty of Tourism and Management, Hanoi University in October 2009. SIFE HANU is running 4 potential projects for the community, including a tourism project named HomeVisit.
