Attention: New CDEF-Supported Cultural Projects

CDEF has just had their first board meeting in 2011, in which they decided which cultural project, within the scope of contemporary art, should get support in the upcoming months. All cultural lovers can look forward  to eight unique, modern and innovative cultural projects which emphasis on such different thing as visual art, traditional and modern music, Danish-Vietnamese cultural exchange and performances which combine all the above.

CDEF received a total of 23 applications at the deadline May 1th. Among these, 8 of them were of Danish origin and 15 of Vietnamese. The project supported by CDEF must be either promotes Vietnamese contemporary art or a Danish-Vietnamese exchange of contemporary art. Furthermore, as the new overall guideline for CDEF, all projects must be innovative, modern and part of a new trend.

The CDEF found that 8 of the projects had a high enough quality to receive CDEF grants. Below you can read briefly about each project. The grants have a value between 13.702 DKK (approx. 3500 USD) and 60.000 DKK (approx. 11804 USD) . All projects are to be realised within the next year.

The following cultural projects have received support from CDEF:

Global sisters is a project portraying three women from Vietnam, Senegal and Denmark, all born in the same day and year, by combining different kinds of media such as words, actions, images, movies, webcam in an interactive form. Global Sisters will be supported with 40,000 DKK (Approx. USD 7869).

Applicant: Women’s Museum in Denmark

East Meets West is a musical exchange project in which talented Vietnamese musician are coming to Denmark to perform a joint Vietnamese-Danish concert. The world-renowned jazz composer Chris Minh Doky will perform with the orchestra as a soloist. CDEF supports the East Meets West project with 60,000 DKK (Approx.USD 11804).

Applicant: Hafnia Chamber Orchestra (Denmark)

Warriors” is an exhibition of sculpture installation in large-scale which is surrounded by the theme of difficult positions of women in the context of Vietnam before and after the war. CDEF supports “Warriors” with a grant of 55,745,000 VND.

Applicant: Nguyen Thuy Hang

“3D Improvisations” is improvisation performance with a circle of three dimensions: sound, light and feelings. It’s a mix of traditional and electronic music, live photography and acting on the stage. The project is supported by USD 10,000.

Applicant: Dang Hao

Lost in Vibration is a music project which brings the traditional Vietnamese instrument “dan tranh” into a new experimental musical performance that will show new aspects of the instrument. The new music is composed by musician Thanh Thuy and will be presented by shows in Vietnam. The project is supported by USD 3750.

Applicant: Nguyen Thanh Thuy

Contemporary Script is an art exhibition focusing about current life of farmers in the context of industrialization, with industrial and construction sites emerges everywhere. The exhibition takes places in Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and is supported by 55,800,000 VND.

Applicant: Pham Khac Quang

The 3rd Vietnam Press Caricature Prize (Bamboo Dragon Cup) is a competition focusing on the popular art form caricature. It’s a competition open for all Vietnamese citizens. This year’s theme is “Environment”. CDEF supports the competition with 100,000,000 VND.

Applicant: The Thao Van hoa Newspaper

Remained Landscape is a project of researching and creating art work by using used objects and material that no longer used, but still remain in the city. The exhibition will focus on the importance of the past, of history and of one’s existence and the contradictions between the impulse to destroy/to forget and the compulsion to mend/ to remain. Remained Landscape is supported with 113,900,000 VND.

  1. Tôi là người nhận tài trợ cho dự án Lost in Vibration từ quỹ CDEF. Tên tiếng Việt của dự án là Lạc Trong Rung Động, chứ không phải Chìm Trong Rung Động. Và đàn tranh cổ có 16 dây (chứ không phải 12 dây). Hiện nay đàn tranh có nhiều cỡ với nhiều dây hơn. Đàn tranh loại lớn nhất là 21 dây.

    Đề nghị ban biên tập website sửa lại thông tin về dự án của tôi cho chuẩn xác hơn.
