Tuan Mami, a Hanoi artist probably best known for his intense performance pieces, has been working recently in Munich, Germany where is doing a residency. This is an invitation to the closing performance.
Starting from the intention to hold a video-performance every day in a week in the public space of Vienna, the artists were forced by unusually hot weather to perform in the early morning hours at 6am, a fact which became eponymous for the German title Die große Hitze, “the great heat” and changed the setting of the work totally: a empty city, sleepy protagonists, no audience.
The combination of a performance until total physical exhaustion and its painstaking video documentation, from subjective perspective of the protagonists as well as from a supposed objective external perspective is due to the different backgrounds of Tuan Mami (Performance/Conceptual Art) and CA Schwarz (Video/Media Art).
