Mid-Autumn Festival “The Colour of the Sea”

The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology will host a special event to celebrate the Moon Festival with a special program titled “The Colour of the Sea” over 3 days. This is a great opportunity for family and children to have fun with many games and traditional toys which are used for cultural and educational purposes. Visitors also have a chance to explore many customs and the culture of the littoral inhabitants.
Many activities of the littoral inhabitants are organized: Binh Thuan – Quang Ngai’s singing style and card games, lion dance on stilts and net weaving (Hai Trieu – Nam Dinh), bending of the fish’s hook (Cam Xuyen – Ha Tinh). In addition, there are other activities of the Red River Delta such as: water puppet, young rice and soft rice cake…
There are more than 20 traditional games. Visitors will have a chance to experience the games that are unique to a specific coastal areas. These games are played by many young children. Thus, visitors may enjoy finding out more about the making of mid-autumn festival’s latterns, drums, mask painting… This is the tradition that the Museum has been trying to preserve and contribute to the development of the traditional craft.
The public as well as young children will discover more about the culture of coastal areas. A tea ceremony of Tan Cuong – Thai Nguyen’s tea will also be hosted.
This year’s program, apart from the 2 days (10 and 11/09) is for the public, on the night of the 10th and for the whole day of the 12th Sep, it’s for the contracted guests. On the 10th Sep, a special program for disadvantage children will be organized.
